Heroes of Alton  

Saturday, October 20, 2012 - 7 pm
Hatheway Cultural Center, L.C.C.C.
 
In conjunction with Alton’s 175th Celebration, Alton Symphony Orchestra presents a concert to celebrate the Alton’s heroes and history.   Lewis and Clark Community College Choir joins ASO for American Mass, music based on hymns and spirituals by Ron Kean.  Intermission refreshments and desserts will be provided by Gentelin’s On Broadway.  The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” accompanied by a special visual presentation of the heroes and history of this community.

Music from Santa’s Workshop

Saturday, December 15, 2012 – 3 to 4 p.m. 

Hatheway Cultural Center, L.C.C.C.

Hey Kids! Bring Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa to this special concert!  Sing along as the Alton Symphony Orchestra plays your favorite holiday music.  After the concert, visit with Santa and enjoy yummy holiday treats for sale from Gentelin's.


Holiday Concert  – Not your Father's Nutcracker!

Swing in the Holidays with Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker followed by holiday favorites and audience sing-along.  During intermission ASO presents its annual silent auction of beautiful holiday baskets along with holiday treats and refreshments by Gentelin’s On Broadway!


A Tour of Italy
                      
Sunday, February 24, 2013 – 3 pm
Hatheway Cultural Center, L.C.C.C.


Join us for an afternoon of European delights.  We will feature stirring music from Europe and a visual presentation.  The concert begins with Overture to La Forza Del Destino by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi.  Guest pianist Avguste Antonov joins ASO performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major.   During intermission enjoy a sampling of Italian wines and desserts from Gentelin’s On Broadway before being swept away by Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 “Italian” and a special visual tour of Italy.



Young Artists Concert

Saturday, April 20, 2013 – 7 pm
Hatheway Cultural Center, L.C.C.C.
 

We proudly present in concert, the remarkable young concerto winners of ASO’s Marie Stillwell Young Artist Competition.  Meet the competition winners and orchestra members while you enjoy desserts and refreshments for sale by Gentelin’s On Broadway. The ASO will also perform movements from Stravinsky's Suite from "Firebird" and “Vision Quest” by local composer Robert Charles Howard.
